How to Play Regatta

The goal? Cross the start gate. Beat upwind to the top mark. Round it. Run downwind. Cross the finish gate first. Simple route. Hard execution. Regatta rewards smart angles, not button mashing.

Steering and Wind Reading

Use Arrow Keys (or A/D) to steer. Mobile? On-screen buttons work. The sails trim automatically. Mainsail and jib adjust to wind direction. No manual fiddling. Your job? Pick the angle. Watch the efficiency indicator. Higher value = better speed. Cannot sail straight into wind. Zigzag upwind. This is tacking.

Optimal Angles and Course Strategy

Beating upwind? Aim for 40-45 degrees to the wind. That is peak efficiency. Running downwind? Slower than you think. Beam reaching (wind from the side) is faster. On broad reach the jib opens into butterfly configuration. Use it. Round the top mark tight. Cut inside the AI. Every meter counts.
